To preview how the item will appear on an assessment at any point, click the Preview Item button.

The Answer Key is displayed on the first page. Scroll down to view the item on the second page. Click the Back button to return to editing the assessment item.

To further customize how the item will display on an assessment (optional), click the expandable Formatting bar.

Select the desired Page Break by clicking the appropriate radio button. A page break determines where the current page of an assessment ends and the next begins. A page break before the assessment item means the item will be placed on a new page when added to an assessment. A page break after the assessment item means the next item added on an assessment will fall on a new page.

Select the desired Spacing Below Item by clicking the appropriate radio button. This will insert the designated amount of blank space below the item on an assessment.

Choose the desired Multiple Select Option Layout by clicking the appropriate radio button. This only applies to Multiple Choice / Multiple Select item formats. Single column means all answer options will display in one vertical column on an assessment. Double column means the answer options will display in two vertical columns on an assessment, which will lessen the amount of space the item takes up on the page.

ITEM TO ITEM ASSET RELATIONSHIP

As an additional option, you may link an item to an existing item asset, or vice versa, by clicking the expandable Item to Item Asset Relationship bar. For example, you can align a multiple choice item with an item asset (typically a reading passage, diagram, image, etc.) that it correlates with.

mceclip12.png

For a description of how this section operates, click the ‘i’ (information) icon next to the Item to Item Asset Relationship heading.

mceclip13.png

Perform a generic search for the desired item asset you would like to link the assessment item to by clicking the Search button. To align an item asset to an item, follow the same steps as below.

mceclip14.png

For a more specific search, type in any Keyword(s) or item title related to the desired item(s) you wish to locate. Click the Search button.

mceclip15.png

Click the Add button to create the link between the item you are creating and the existing item asset. Once aligned, the item asset will always appear with this item. Please note that assessment items can only be aligned to a single item asset, but an item asset can be aligned to multiple assessment items.

mceclip16.png

The item asset will now be displayed at the top of the section. If you wish to delete the relationship, click the Remove Asset button.
